State’s active COVID cases climb by 21, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The number of active COVID-19 cases increased by 21 according to numbers released by the South Dakota Department of Health today.

The state had 59 new cases in addition to 37 new recoveries, leaving the active amount of infections at 1,146 (there were 946 one week ago). The number of deaths remained the same at 146.

South Dakota has had 9,663 confirmed cases so far with 8,371 recoveries, and 121,477 negative tests. There are currently 63 hospitalizations associated with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had four new confirmed cases and three new recoveries, moving the amount of active infections to 50. In all, the county has had 446 confirmed cases, 393 recoveries, 4,878 negative tests and three deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 4,437 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 896, Lincoln County with 642, and Beadle County with 594.
