State’s active COVID cases decrease by more than 1,200, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s active COVID cases dropped by more than 1,200 and there were no new deaths, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 897 new confirmed cases and 2,118 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections by 1,221 to 18,139. There were six more hospitalizations raising that total to 560. The state’s COVID-related death total remained at 644.

In all, the state has had 66,278 confirmed cases and 47,495 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 32 new confirmed cases and 63 recoveries, lowering the amount of active cases to 690. The county has had a total of 2,938 confirmed cases and 2,238 recoveries. There have been 10 COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 17,222 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 7,077, and Lincoln County with 4,536. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,246, Brookings with 2,086, Beadle with 1,943, Davison with 1,912, Lawrence with 1,668, Meade with 1,441, and Oglala Lakota with 1,407.
