State’s active COVID cases decrease, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s active COVID infections fell slightly for the second straight day as South Dakota reached a record high in recoveries according to figures released by the state department of health. South Dakota had 392 new cases to go along with 418 recoveries, lowering the state’s total of active cases to 3,658 (there were 3,108 one week ago). The state’s COVID-19 related death total remained at 223.

So far, South Dakota has had 22,389 confirmed cases and 18,508 recoveries. There are currently 212 people hospitalized in connection with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had 17 new cases and 22 new recoveries, lowering the county’s active infections to 200. In all, the county has had 1,240 total cases, 1,036 recoveries, and four COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 6,816 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 2,405, and Lincoln County with 1,408. Other counties totals include Codington with 894, Beadle with 815, Brookings 779, Clay with 568, and Meade with 560.
