State’s active COVID cases decrease, one new death reported

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s active COVID cases decreased, hospitalizations were up just a tad, and there was one new death according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 1,611 confirmed cases and 1,705 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 18,627.

The state had five more hospitalizations leaving that total at 556. There has been 568 COVID-related deaths.

South Dakota has had 62,327 confirmed cases and 43,132 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 47 new confirmed cases and 54 recoveries, lowering the amount of active cases to 659. In all, the county has had 2,766 confirmed cases and 2,099 recoveries. There have been eight COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 16,305 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 6,647, and Lincoln County with 4,270. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,150, Brookings with 1,964, Beadle with 1,842, Davison with 1,717, Lawrence with 1,557, Oglala Lakota with 1,349, and Meade with 1,346.
