State’s active COVID cases drop by 86, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s number of active cases of COVID-19 dropped by 86 according to numbers released today by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death toll remained the same.

South Dakota had  50 new confirmed cases of the virus, combined with 136 new recoveries, lowering the number of active infections to 1,060 (there were 935 one week ago).

So far the state has had a total of 9,713 confirmed cases, 8,507 recoveries, 122,409 negative tests and 146 deaths. There are currently 57 hospitalizations associated with the virus.

Locally, Brown County reported five new confirmed cases and six new recoveries, dropping the active infections to 49. In all, the county has had 451 confirmed cases, 399 recoveries, 4,917 negative tests and three deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had the most confirmed cases with 4,457, followed by Pennington County with 898, Lincoln County with 653, and Beadle County with 594.
