State’s active COVID cases increase by nearly 200, two new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state saw an increase of about 200 active COVID cases and had two new deaths, according to numbers released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 361 new cases and 162 recoveries, leaving the state with 6,062 active infections (there were 4,274 one week ago). The added deaths – one in Roberts and one in Turner – bring the state’s total of COVID-related deaths to 288.

South Dakota has had 28,925 total cases so far and 22,575 recoveries. There are currently 278 individuals hospitalized with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had 20 new cases and 8 new recoveries for a total of 296 active cases. The county has had 1,575 total cases, 1,275 total recoveries, and four COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 8,036 total cases, followed by Pennington County with 3,177, and Lincoln County with 1,844. Other counties totals include Codington with 1,119, Brookings with 997, Beadle with 960, Meade with 720, Clay with 650,and Hughes with 653.
