State’s active COVID infections decrease, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s number of active COVID infections decreased by 73 and there were no new deaths according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 320 new cases to go along with 393 new recoveries, lowering the active cases to 2,817 (there were 2,386 last week). The state’s COVID-related death total remained at 202.

So far, South Dakota has had 19,189 confirmed cases and 16,170 recoveries. There are currently 178 people hospitalized in association with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had 21 new cases and 12 new recoveries, increasing the active infections to 135. So far, the county has had 1,052 confirmed cases, 914 recoveries, and three COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 6,293 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 2,041, and Lincoln County with 1,223. Other counties totals include Codington with 741, Beadle with 707, Brookings with 696, and Clay with 540.
