State’s active infections, hospitalizations continue to increase

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s active COVID-19 cases as well as hospitalizations continued to increase according to totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state reported 907 new confirmed cases, 390 recoveries and now has 16,166 active infections. There are also 20 more individuals hospitalized in connection with the virus, moving that total to 566. There was one new death, pushing the state’s overall COVID-related death total to 537.

So far, South Dakota has had 56,311 confirmed cases and 39,508 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 29 new confirmed cases and five recoveries, increasing the amount of active cases to 595. In all, the county has had 2,585 confirmed cases and 1,982 recoveries. There have been eight total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 14,765 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 5,856, and Lincoln County with 3,782. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,002, Brookings with 1,802, Beadle with 1,682, Davison with 1,503, Lawrence with 1,371, Oglala Lakota with 1,256, and Meade with 1,226.
