State’s active infections inch upward, two new deaths reported

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The number of active COVID-19 cases went up 25, and there were two new deaths reported by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths moved the overall number of COVID-related deaths to 169.

The state had 254 new confirmed cases and 127 new recoveries, pushing the amount of active infections to 2,875 (there were 1,513 one week ago). So far, South Dakota has had a total of 14,003 confirmed cases and 10,959 recoveries. There are currently 77 individuals hospitalized in connection with the virus.

Locally, Brown County showed little movement, having just one new confirmed case and three more recoveries, lowering the number of active cases to 136. The county has had 696 overall cases, 557 recoveries and three deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 5,389 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 1,475, and Lincoln County with 935. Other counties and their confirmed cases include Beadle with 641, Clay with 381, Brookings with 362, Codington with 357, and Meade with 317.
