State’s number of active COVID cases decreases, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – For the first time in a week, the state’s number of active COVID-19 infections decreased according to numbers released by the South Dakota Department of Health today.

The state had 80 new cases, along with 120 new recoveries, lowering the amount of active cases to 1,530. That number is still well above the total of 1,163 active cases one week ago. The state’s death toll remained at 161.

Overall, South Dakota has had 11,505 confirmed cases  and 9,814 recoveries. There are currently 53 people hospitalized in association with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had six new cases, but remained the same with 88 active infections. The county has had three total deaths. So far, the county has had 561 confirmed cases and 464 recoveries.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 4,938 total confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 1,082, Lincoln County with 798, and Beadle County with 619.
