STURGIS, S.D.(KBHB) – Sturgis Mayor Mark Carstensen says the council continues to work on making the proposed Lakeside Adventure Park a reality.
The council had to go back and do some reconfiguration on their chosen concept because it came in over budget.
Mayor Carstensen says they are working with development company, Vanocker Development Inc., to reduce the cost of the project and increase the size of the lake.
Carstensen says the development team is working with the city to make adjustments in hopes of reducing the cost.
However, he says no new plans have come forward to the council as of yet.
The council also approved a resolution of support of another city housing project being done by Pivot Development Group, L.L.C.
Pivot has shared preliminary plans of the Harvest Meadows and Valley View new residential developments that will incorporate public infrastructure.
Pivot is seeking assistance from the South Dakota Housing Development Authority, which provides grants and loans four housing infrastructure.
Sturgis Public Works Director Rick Bush.
The proposed development is located west of Sturgis off Avalanche Road.
In a separate development motion, the council tabled Resolution 2023-38, which is for proposed housing on the Richards Property.
The Richards Property is also home to the proposed Adventure Park, where Vanocker Development Inc., has shared preliminary plans for the public infrastructure of the Vanocker Heights Subdivisions.
