STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis City Council approved a revised Developers’ Agreement with Vanocker Development Inc. at their meeting Tuesday night.
The development group is putting together plans for the proposed Adventure Park on Vanocker Canyon Road.
Sturgis Alderman Kevin Forester says there are a couple of pieces to the revised agreement.
Forester says they also needed to have the developers pare down the cost of the project – which came in more than double the targeted budget of just over $5 million dollars.
Forester says the council is hoping for some new numbers later this summer.
Meanwhile, the council also discussed a $25,000 expenditure on the claims report Tuesday night.
Forester says this involves a Harley Davidson event that generated a collaboration between the state, city of Sturgis, Buffalo Chip and the motorcycle company.
Forester says there was some discussion on how Sturgis would benefit from the deal. Following discussion, the council was not able to get a super majority to pass it. Forester says they will re-visit the issue at a later meeting.
