PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- Clay County is one of several in the state struggling to come up with the money to rebuild their county jail.
When Governor Kristi Noem spoke at Girls State at USD earlier this month, she said the state may look to partner with counties for jail space.
Noem says there are some issues to work out before the state can work with the counties.
Noem says she expects the legislature to have a plan in front of them next year.
The legislatures interim committee on regional jails and state correctional plans holds their first meeting Thursday.
