SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- A year from now Summit Carbon Solutions hopes to have permits in hand to begin building a massive Carbon Capture pipeline.
CEO Lee Blank says the focus now is working with counties to reach agreement on where the line can be built.
The company hasn’t re-filed its permit application in South Dakota yet…but there’s a lot of work going on in the background.
Blank says Summit is focusing its efforts on Iowa and the Dakotas, because they are at the heart of the Summit project.
For Sioux Falls based POET, it’s all about lowering its CI or Carbon Intensity score….
POET is the world’s largest producer of biofuels and a leader in sustainable bioproducts.
The abandoned Navigator CO2 pipeline was part of POET’s plan to achieve that lower CI score.
For now, POET media specialist Erin Branick says the company is keeping its options open.
In the meantime, POET is focused on updating its existing ethanol plants with the latest technology to capture and market the carbon they produce.
