Super ego doesn’t help driver from Virginia get semi through Pierre’s low-clearance train bridge

PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- A driver from Boones Mill, Virginia, was the driver who fell victim to the train viaduct bridge in Pierre late Friday morning.

Information from the Pierre Police Department says Andrew Chriscoe, Jr. was traveling northbound on Pierre Street in a 2024 Kenworth semi pulling a trailer loaded with over 40,000 pounds of salt just before 11:30am CT. The trailer exceeded the 11’ 3” height limit and ultimately got stuck, causing extensive damage to the trailer. Another truck and trailer were called to the scene to transfer the salt before the truck and trailer could be moved.

Officers had to shut down northbound traffic on Pierre Street for about six hours while crews worked to remove the truck and trailer. Chriscoe was given a verbal warnings for the truck route and failure to obey a traffic signal violations.

As usual, there was no apparent damage to Pierre’s infamous train bridge.
