Surgeon General says questions still surround virus

PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – One of the many questions surround the Covid-19 coronavirus is if Covid-19 will become a constant moving forward, an annual health issue like the flu or if the virus can be completely eradicated. United States Surgeon General Jerome Adams says the answer remains unknown.

Adams says younger populations need to be just as careful with Covid-19 as other more at-risk populations.

Adams says shutdowns aren’t needed to control the virus, but that will only work if the public follows through with prevention measures.

Adams says he personally believes the United States can return to more of a pre-pandemic status by early summer 2021 on an aggressive assuming the delivery of an effective coronavirus vaccine and cooperation by the public.
