RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) – Local law enforcement has caught the suspect in a triple assault turned murder case yesterday.
The Rapid City Police Department was called to E. Monroe Street for a triple-assault. Police found two female and one male victim that all suffered blunt force trauma. Police were able to quickly identify the suspect in the attack as parolee 28-year-old Allac ‘AJ’ Dismounts Thrice of Rapid City. At around 4:30 Thursday Dismounts Thrice was called in as a suspicious subject in Box Elder who was seen entering vehicles and storage sheds on private property.
The Box Elder Police Department was able to detain Dismounts Thrice, who refused to identify himself. The responding Box Elder Police Department officers noticed Allac matched the description of the suspect from the E. Monroe assault, and officers from the Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene and confirmed his identity.
Shortly after Dismounts Thrice was taken into custody, law enforcement was informed one the victims from the E. Monroe assault, 39-year old Richard Montanez of Rapid City, died due to injuries sustained as a result of the assault. The two other victims remain in critical condition with life threatening injuries.
Dismounts Thrice is currently in the Pennington Co. Jail and charged with one count of 1st Degree Murder and two counts of Attempted 1st Degree Murder. The Rapid City Police Department and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault and are monitoring the status of the other two victims.
