PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- There is no need for a deer harvest within Pierre city limits this year.
City Commissioner Blake Barringer says that was the determination of Pierre’s Deer Management Task Force.
Barringer says so far this year, the contact-with-deer numbers are lower than they were last year.
Unsurprisingly, Barringer says people should be extra alert for deer in the Hilger’s Gulch area.
Pierre’s Deer Management Task Force includes a city commissioner and nine citizens appointed by the Mayor. The data provided to the group comes from the Pierre Police Department.
Pierre established the Deer Management Task Force in 2007 to administer an urban deer management program.
