Taylor Breaks Program Record In Yankton

Yankton, SD (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State University track and field team competed in the Mount Marty Meet Wednesday. Seven first place finishes were claimed by the Wolves along with a new program record.

HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE MEN

  • First place in the men’s 400m hurdles was Drew Henriksen and his 55.41 time
  • Sam Tremelling secured another top finish for the Wolves as he marked 4.90m in the pole vault
  • The 5000m saw Taylor Thorson come in second, crossing the finish line in 16:51.36
  • A mark of 13.09m in the triple jump earned Eyuel Miftah a runner-up finish
  • Levi Reis took second in the men’s javelin throw, throwing 56.26m
  • Places two and three in the men’s 100m went to Chris Weber and Ty Kadlec; their respective times of 10.53 and 10.59 awarded them provisional marks
  • The 4x100m relay, ran by Noah Bayer, Weber, Drew Salfrank, and Kadlec took fourth place
  • The team of Jesse Pietz, Carter Dingman, Geoffrey Mannino, and Brener Conrad took home sixth in the 4x100m with a time of 43.33

HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE WOMEN

  • Renea Taylor stood atop of the standings in the women’s 100m with her 11.51 time; she earned the No. 7 rank in the nation and broke a program record
  • The 5000m saw Abby Hasart take the gold, running an 18:59.89
  • A 1.59m height in the high jump was enough for Tayla Dobrenski to finish first
  • Ahead of the pack in the women’s long jump was Alexa Fender and her 5.73m leap
  • The 4x100m team of Kali Norton, Taylor, Anna Skachenko, and Fender took first place with a time of 47.35
  • Skachenko’s 58.99 time in the 400m earned her a second place finish
  • Silver in the javelin throw event went to Annaliese Van Zee and her 33.90m throw
  • A time of 2:31.25 in the 800m secured Sophia Gates fourth
  • 3.43m in the women’s pole vault gave Gitte Bellemans fourth place and Liz Dunham fifth place
  • Grace Kuch earned a provisional mark with her fifth place mark of 13.22m
  • Julia Skari ran a 14.72 in the 100m hurdles to take home fifth
  • The 400m hurdles fifth place spot went to Elisabet Osk Jonsdottir’s 1:07.58 time
  • Finishing fifth was Andi Mehrer and her 43.91m discus throw
  • Macoya Hansen’s javelin throw of 33.04m gave her a sixth place finish; seventh went to Jordan West and her 31.92m throw
  • A high jump mark of 1.54m was enough for Morgan Sheldon to get sixth; Sheldon also notched a seventh place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.90
  • The discus throw saw Chloe Peterson take seventh with her throw of 40.88m
  • Payton Kemnitz ran a 2:35.28 to earn seventh in the women’s 800m

BEYOND THE RESULTS

  • Conrad set a new personal record in the men’s pole vault with a height of 3.55m
  • Hasart’s 5:14.80 time earned a pr in the women’s 1500m
  • A personal record in the women’s hammer throw was secured by Peterson’s 44.70m throw
  • Setting a personal best in the women’s shot put was Olivia Ashley with her 11.12m mark

NSU has a quick turnaround, heading to Des Moines, IA for day one of the Drake Relays Thursday, April 23. Events will start at 10 a.m. with the Decathlon.
