The Aberdeen City Council approve first reading on ordinance dealing with vacant buildings

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Monday night, the Aberdeen City Council approved first reason on an ordinance that deals with vacant buildings.

Aberdeen Building & Zoning Director, Brett Bill talks what this ordinance is about.

City Attorney Ron Wager reminds the council that this doesn’t involved all vacant buildings.

Wager recommended the council to add the word nuisance to the ordinance to try to eliminate some of the confusion.  Wager defined the legal term of nuisance.

The Aberdeen City Council unanimously approved the ordinance with the nuisance added in front of vacant buildings throughout.  The second reading is scheduled for the next city council on Monday, May 1st.
