The City of Aberdeen announced Megan Kukowski the first Economic Development Manager

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release)- The City of Aberdeens first Economic Development Manager will assume their duties on February 6, 2023.  City Manager Joe Gaa is pleased to announce that Megan Kukowski will be joining the Citys staff.

Megan earned a Bachelors Degree in Advertising and Marketing from South Dakota State University. She has spent the past eight years working in a variety of marketing and communication positions in Aberdeen.  Most recently she served as the Coordinator of Generosity and Online Community at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

As Aberdeens Economic Development Manager Megan will be responsible for the implementation and oversight of economic development programs and activities of the City.  Areas of emphasis for the position will include business attraction, retention and expansion; job growth and tax base expansion; workforce recruitment; housing development; and community marketing.

City Manager Joe Gaa states that Megans experience makes her wellsuited for the position. A goal in the 2023 budget was to strengthen the Citys role in economic development.  To do so, having a City staff member who can directly interact with our current business community, as well as new business prospects is key. Megans experience, personality, and her admiration for the community of Aberdeen made her a great choice to lead this new effort for the City.

Megan is married to Cole and they have a son, Quincy, who is eight months old. The office of the Economic Development Manager will be located on the third floor of City Hall at 123 S. Lincoln Street in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
