The Salvation Army of Aberdeen welcomes new leadership

ABERDEEN, S.D. (Press Release)—The Salvation Army of Aberdeen is welcoming two new leaders to town.

Envoys Joel and Ramona Arthur just arrived last week as the unit’s new corps administrators. They succeed Lieutenants Joe and April Alvarez, who were rotated to a new Salvation Army posting elsewhere in the Midwest. (As a matter of routine, Salvation Army officers are rotated to new assignments in different parts of the country every few years.

The Envoys Arthur arrived in Aberdeen having just completed a multi-year assignment as leaders of the Ottumwa, Iowa Salvation Army unit. They have served in a variety of Salvation Army leadership roles over the last 22 years, including stints at the organization’s regional headquarters in Omaha, where Envoy Ramona led volunteer efforts and Envoy Joel headed up disaster-relief operations.

“We are excited to take up leadership of local Salvation Army programs and services here in Aberdeen, and we look forward to providing vision and direction for ministry, as well,” said Envoy Joel Arthur. “We are also very grateful for the warm welcome we have received from our new neighbors,” he said.

The Envoys Arthur said they plan to continue the community-focused efforts of their predecessors as they begin their new assignments.
