The vice chair of the state Corrections Commission react to the firing of the warden & deputy warden at the state pen

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(WNAX)- South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem fired the warden and deputy warden at the state penitentiary in Sioux Falls after an investigation into anonymous complaints over working conditions and harassment. She also suspended Corrections Department Secretary Mike Liedholt.

Senator Art Rusch of Vermillion is vice chair of the state Corrections Commission. He says its clear that workers at the penitentiary need better pay.

Rusch says low pay is only one of the issues.

Rusch says he hasn’t gotten details of the complaints yet.

No time line was announced for the investigation or if it will be made public when it’s done.
