PIERRE, S.D. (KWAT) — Thousands of South Dakota households have been approved for home heating assistance this winter.

David Gall administers the program for the South Dakota Department of Social Services.

All of the money for low-income heating assistance is provided by the federal government.

Gall says it’s an income-based program.

He says there’s still plenty of time to apply.

Gall says last winter, 21,437 South Dakota households were approved for home heating assistance.
