ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release)- A report of a potential threat against Simmons Middle School was handled quickly this morning and found to have no merit.
When the call was received, the School Resource Officer was already present as part of his normal assignment. The officer and school district administration were able to quickly assess that the threat did not appear to be credible.
Out of an abundance of caution, we had an increased presence of officers at the school and in the area until the threat was thoroughly investigated.
We want to reassure the community that student safety is a top priority for the Aberdeen Police Department and the Aberdeen School District.
