STURGIS, S.D. (Press Release) – Three men died Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash near Sturgis.
Names of the people involved are not yet being released pending notification of family members.
A 2016 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck and trailer was eastbound on Interstate 90 when it was rear-ended by a 2015 Maserati Ghibli.
All three occupants of the Maserati were pronounced dead at the scene. All three were wearing seat belts.
The two occupants of the semi-truck, the 77-year-old male driver and the 74-year-old female passenger, were not injured. The driver was wearing a seat belt and the passenger was not.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this time.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
