Three teenagers arrested following vehicle burglaries in Watertown

WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT)–Watertown police have arrested and charged three teenage boys after eight vehicles were burglarized and one was stolen in various parts of the city over the weekend.

Items stolen from the vehicles included cash, cigarettes, alcohol and a nine-millimeter pistol.

The vehicle that was stolen was a 2020 Mazda that was later found after it crashed in the area between the frisbee golf course and Lincoln Park in northwest Watertown.

That vehicle sustained $7,000 damage.

As part of their investigation, police executed two separate search warrants Monday, which led to the recovery of the stolen pistol and cash.

Three juvenile males from Watertown, ages 14, 16, and 17 were arrested, and face charges that include Grand Theft from a Motor Vehicle.

Two of the juveniles remain in custody, while the 17 year-old was released to the custody of a parent.

Because the boys are juveniles, police did not release their names.
