Thunder Road revving up for 27th season

Aberdeen, SD(Press Release) – Thunder Road in Wylie Park is gearing up to open on Saturday, May 1 for their 27th season, weather permitting. This season, Thunder Road will also be rolling out a fleet of revamped Go-Karts.

This addition of upgraded Go-Karts will provide Aberdeen residents with the opportunity to reach new speeds in 2021. The Go-Kart manufacturer, Shaller, is the leading producer of Go-Karts in the United States and is known for their high performance and quality.

The Aberdeen family entertainment center will be open on weekends until May 12 when the park opens daily through August 29 and weekends through September 19.  Hours of operation vary, and a full operating schedule can be found here. Bumper Boats will open later in the season during Memorial Day Weekend.

Thunder Road prides itself in providing an affordable venue for families to spend quality family time together. This year, Thunder Road will be offering a special—2-hour unlimited attraction wristbands available daily for $25. Attractions include Go-Karts, Mini-Golf, Bumper Boats and Laser Maze Challenge. The Euro Bungy is available to be added to the wristband special for an additional $5.

The local, family-owned business opened its doors in Aberdeen for the first time in August of 1994 and has since opened two additional locations in Sioux Falls and Watertown, South Dakota.  “It’s such a privilege to continue to serve the Aberdeen community year after year. We are confident that 2021 will be the best season to date and we cannot wait to open our doors to our Aberdeen family this summer,” explained David Novstrup, co-owner and General Manager for Thunder Road.

In addition to all the fun and excitement that Thunder Road provides, Wylie Park offers camping, picnicking, playground areas, softball, volleyball, horseshoes and miles of recreational trails. The park is also home to Storybook Land, where families can enjoy a world of imagination inspired by familiar nursery rhymes such as Humpty Dumpty and Hickory Dickory Dock.
