WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – The election of 2020 is barely over but races for 2022 may soon be on the horizon.

South Dakota Senator John Thune’s third term will expire then and he says he hasn’t thought about it too much……yet.

Thune says a lot could change in almost two years.

Thune says he doesn’t want his decision to affect anyone else who might be interested in running.

Republican Senator Karl Mundt was the only person elected to four terms in the Senate from South Dakota.
