Thune hoping campaign doesn’t get in the way of legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – The announcement from President Trump this week that he is officially running for re-election and 20 some democrats pursuing the same office means “Campaign 2020” is underway.

South Dakota Senator John Thune says he worries that all the rhetoric could derail important legislation.

Thune says he is concerned the USMCA trade agreement could be caught up in politics.

Thune says moving the agreement is up to Democrats in the House.

Administration officials have said if the deal isn’t approved by the August recess, it is probably dead.
