Thune says South Dakota producers need certainty of trade deal

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KCCR) – The Senate Finance Committee has moved the USMCA trade deal onto the full Senate for consideration. South Dakota Senator John Thune is a member of the committee and says producers in South Dakota need the certainty of the trade deal.

Thune says he’s pleased with what USMCA will do for South Dakota’s growing dairy industry.

USMCA is expected to benefit the manufacturing, automotive and digital services industries. A total of 176,000 jobs are forecast to be created by the deal however, Thune says it falls short in at least one area.

The measure gained approval of the Senate Finance Committee on a 25-3 vote.
