WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – Senate Republicans are quickly moving to fill the opening on the U.S. Supreme Court following the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
South Dakota Senator John Thune says this vacancy is different then the one in 2016.
Senator Lindsey Graham, the Chair of the Judiciary Committee, has said they have the votes to confirm a nominee. Thune says that type of talk is premature.
Thune says some of the potential nominees have been recently confirmed to lower court positions.
The Republican goal is to have the new Justice seated before election day.
