WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – The national debt is now approaching $27 trillion as Congress considers another trillion dollar plus economic stimulus plan.

South Dakota Senator John Thune says they will have to come back to those looming obligations at some point.

Thune says it is difficult to find a fiscal balance now.

Thune says the next stimulus plan will be more targeted.

The federal budget deficit is now at $2.8 trillion and climbing.
