PIERRE, S.D. (DRG News) – From determining a person needs to get tested to how quickly labs can process tests to how soon contact tracing begins, when it comes to COVID-19 timing is everything.
South Dakota Secretary of Health Kim Malsam-Rysdon says how quickly results come back depends on which lab is doing the testing.
State epidemiologist Dr. Josh Clayton says while people are waiting for their COVID-19 test results, they should be self isolating.
Malsam-Rysdon says contact tracing begins when test results are known.
Some large retail chains– including Walmart and Menards– are now requiring customers to wear a mask when they go inside the store to shop. Malsam-Rysdon says the requirement is helpful.
