WINNER, S.D. (WNAX) – A newcomer is making her first political run against a long time legislator.

Erin Tobin of Winner is running in the District 21 Republican Senate primary. She will face House Majority Leader Lee Qualm of Platte who is term limited.

Tobin says she has thought about making a run for a while.

Tobin, a nurse practitioner, says a bill dealing with vaccinations was one of the reasons she jumped in.

Tobin says the pain she sees livestock producers dealing with was another reason she is running.

The two face off in the June second primary. David Kerner Andersson of Burke is the Democrat running in that district.
