Top selling vocalist, trombonist to perform at Jazz Festival

ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The South Dakota Jazz Festival will be celebrating its 50th year on Thursday, Jan. 23.

This year’s event will feature No. 1 selling vocalist and trombonist Aubrey Logan. The festival starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater at the Johnson Fine Arts Center on the campus of Northern State.

Logan, who has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel, The Grammy Awards and a PBS special, is known as “the Queen of Sass.”

She talked about how she received that title.

Logan said she is looking forward to her first trip to the Dakotas and working with a variety of high school students.

The festival brings together more than 180 students from across the state and the region in both competitive and non-competitive categories. Logan said those that attend the event can expect a fun experience.

Tickets are available at the door and are $10 for adults, $5 for children, and free for NSU students with ID and jazz festival participants. The concert is also an Aberdeen Community Concert for those who have purchased tickets to the concert series.

Logan encouraged people to follow her online.
