Trio faces variety of charges following traffic stop in Pierre

PIERRE, S.D. (DRG News) – Men from Pierre, Fort Thompson and Mitchell were arrested and face charges after a traffic stop in Pierre around 8 p.m. Wednesday, (Dec. 16, 2020).

Information from the Pierre Police Department says a traffic stop was made in the Dairy Queen parking lot when an officer observed 30-year-old Dillon BigEagle of Pierre in a vehicle traveling on Sioux Avenue. The officer knew BigEagle had several warrants out for his arrest. When the car stopped,  36-year-old Donald BigEagle of Fort Thompson ran from the vehicle.

The driver, 52-year-old Elmer Pickner, and Dillon BigEagle remained in the car. After a short foot pursuit, an officer apprehended Donald BigEagle.

Dillon BigEagle is charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and six outstanding warrants.

Donald BigEagle is charged with Obstructing an Officer, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and four outstanding warrants.

Elmer Pickner is charged with DUI, Driving Without a License, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Ingestion of a Substance to Become Intoxicated and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
