Turkey farms hit by bird flu

Two more South Dakota Turkey farms have been hit by the bird flu.

Over 114-thousand birds will have to be destroyed on the farms, located in Faulk and McPherson Counties.

State Veterinarian Beth Thompson says it’s a serious situation.

Minnesota has the most cases in the nation, but South Dakota is second.

Thompson says the virus is spread by migrating waterfowl.

One of her big concerns is it’s still early in the migration season.
