Moorhead, MN (NSUWolves.com) – The (RV) Northern State University wrestling team tallied four place winners in a small competition group at the MSUM Dragon Open Saturday. No. 7 Wyatt Turnquist led the way, winning the 149 bracket with 21.5 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Karstyn Lhotak was the first placer for the Wolves, taking second at 141-pounds in the white bracket; the freshman tallied a 2-1 record with wins over Owen Lonski of Mary (TF 15-0) and Bentley Williams of Augustana (Maj 12-0)
- Turnquist won the meet in quick fashion with four bonus point victories, including three technical falls
- The graduate student defeated Anthony Nunes of Mary (TF 15-0), Beau Daily of MSU Moorhead (Fall 1:03), David Platt of St. Cloud State (TF 15-0), and Kaden DeCoteau of Mary (TF 17-0)
- Travis Smith added a sixth place finish in the 174-pound bracket, going 3-2 with wins over Mason Buss of SMSU (TF 17-1), Jared Shafer of Minot State (Fall 2:24), and Alex Kowalchyk of North Dakota State (Maj 10-1)
- Grady Fey added a runner-up finish in the 285-pound white bracket with a 3-1 record and wins over Marcos Hahn of Ridgewater (Fall 0:45), Sam Dioszegy of Concordia Moorhead (Maj 15-5), and Aidan Wayne of St. Johns (Dec 7-3)
