Two Aberdeen Smittys Named To Class A All-State Team

ABERDEEN, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – On Monday the Class A Legion baseball all-state team was selected and a pair of Aberdeen Smittys made the list. Casey Vining & Drew Salfrank were named first team all-state by the voters.

Coach Brandon Kusler on Casey Vining, “Casey was a guy we relied on all year with runners on base. He came through in a lot of big moments, and provided sparks for our offense all year long with his ability to leave the yard. I am not surprised that he ended the season with the most HR’s in the state after all his hard work.”

Coach Kusler on Drew Salfrank, “Drew had one of the most impressive seasons I’ve seen from a hitter in a long time; leading the state with a .479 batting average. His versatility to use the entire field, combined with his speed and athleticism, makes for him to be a very tough guy to get out. On top of that, Drew plays excellent defense and was a mainstay in CF for us all year.”

Kusler continued, “The thing that impresses me the most about both of these guys is their consistency. Obviously their numbers speak for themselves in terms of their consistency as hitters, but what I love is their consistency in which they show up to the field every day with the same attitude and same worth ethic. Two great individuals who lead by example every day.”
