SOUTH DAKOTA(Hub City Radio)- On Tuesday, Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate Julian Beaudion withdrew his candidacy for the Senate race.  Secretary of State’s Office confirmed that he met the deadline to withdraw by Tuesday.

Both candidates running for the Senate reacted to Beuadion dropping out of the race.

Incumbent Senator Mike Rounds told KELOLAND:

“As expected, the liberal wing of the national democrat party just traded down for a socialist who supports expanding Obamacare, raising taxes, abortion and gun restrictions. He’s been running for office six of the nine years he’s been a South Dakota resident. South Dakotans already rejected his liberal policies. Every conservative and common sense voter in South Dakota will see the clear difference between a Bernie Sanders liberal and steady, stable Mike Rounds.”

Independent candidate Brian Bengs released the following statement:

“Julian Beaudion is a patriot.  It takes real courage to not only step into the public arena and participate in our political process, but also to put the voters and our great state ahead of partisan interests, which Julian did.

We both recognize the most important goal here is retiring Mike Rounds.  As a small business owner, 13-year State Trooper and prominent community leader in Sioux Falls, I look forward to future conversations gathering Julian’s input on the issues regular South Dakotans are facing.”

Despite dropping out, Beuadion declared he will not endorsed either candidate.

I’m not throwing my hat behind nor my support behind either one of those candidates because I don’t believe that either one of them are good for the future of our state.”
