Two people dead following a shooting in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- A case of mistaken identity leaves two people dead in a shooting in Sioux Falls Thursday night.

The shooting took place at the Kum & Go gas station near Roosevelt High school Thursday night.

It all started when a 23-year old man said he had been jumped in another area of the city.

Surveillance video showed they weren’t in the area of that altercation.

He was told those responsible were at the gas station, so he went there with a 44-year old man, and a 14 year old boy who armed with baseball bats.

They were followed to the scene by a woman-who was in a different vehicle.  Sioux Falls Information Officer Samuel Clemens:

The motorcyclist then noticed the woman pointing a gun at him.

He shot her in the arm.  Once again here’s Clemens:

The two men who were shot by the motorcyclist both died.

The woman – 42-year old Darinda Martinez – was treated for her injuries, and was later charged with aggravated assault.

The motorcyclist has not been charged, but the case is under review.

The names of the deceased have not been released.
