Two sentenced in connection to storage unit burglaries

ABERDEEN, S.D. (By Elisa Sand esand@aberdeennews.com) – Two women arrested in connection to a series of storage unit burglaries in October were sentenced recently in Brown County.

Police reports at the time indicate that storage units at seven different locations were affected during a two-week stretch.

Alicia Y. Stevens, 24, of Aberdeen pleaded guilty to felony ingestion of methamphetamine and, in a separate case, felony burglary. She received a five-year suspended prison sentence on each charge and 90 days in jail with credit for 90 days served. She was fined a total of $1,423 and placed on probation for five years. Her time will be served concurrently.

Ashley Wright, 29, of Aberdeen pleaded guilty to three counts of felony burglary. She was sentenced to five years in prison with four years and 205 days suspended with credit for 160 days served. She placed on probation for three years. Her terms will be served concurrently. She was fined a total of $1,220 and must pay restitution of $19,151.
