YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- The US Supreme Court ruling that now sends most decisions on abortion laws back to the states will be a campaign issue this fall.
South Dakota democratic Senate Candidate Brian Bengs says that voters in the state have decided the issue twice in the past.
If republicans regain control of the Senate, they may move toward passing a law banning abortion nationwide. Bengs says that’s not the direction the Supreme Court laid out.
Democrats have talked about passing a law codifying Roe v Wade rules. Bengs says he wouldn’t support that.
Bengs faces three term incumbent republican Senator John Thune in November.
