PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – Claims for unemployment benefits continue to surge in South Dakota.
Labor and Regulation Department Secretary Marcia Hultman says they have been able to keep up so far.
Hultman says normally they handle under 200 claims a week.
Hultman says they did get federal funding funneled through this week.
That federal payment is added to state benefits.
Hultman says those with active claims have to go back into the system every week to request payment.
That request can be made beginning at midnight each Saturday.
