PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- Last week the South Dakota Housing Development Authority awarded 19 projects a combined 19-point-two dollars in Housing Infrastructure Financing Program dollars. Another eight projects were aided with 700-thousand dollars in Housing Opportunity Fund money. South Dakota Housing Executive Director Chas Olson says 46 projects have been approved statewide so far.
Olson says the loan funding hasn’t been sought compared to the grant funds.
Olson thinks communities are waiting on grant funding applications before seeking the loans.
Olson says successful applicants have six months to put their projects in motion.
Olson says while not every county has a project in it there is a wide variety of projects from across the state.
Olson says the South Dakota Housing Development Authority hopes to have the remainder of the money spoke for before the Authority’s next meeting December 15th.
