PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- South Dakota lawmakers have the task in 2021 of retooling the state’s Legislative districts. Redistricting comes about every 10 years using the newest population numbers collected by the U-S Census Bureau for the state. District 24 Senator Mary Duvall chairs the Committee and says they may get Census figures sooner than expected.
Duvall says new technology is being set up to aid lawmakers in rebuilding the state’s legislative districts.
Duvall is planning on scheduling the next meeting of the Redistricting Committee for early June.
Getting Census numbers to state legislatures has been significantly delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
