USD president says long-term goals could provide opportunities for one-time money

VERMILLION, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota legislators will have to decide how and where to spend up to $200 million in one-time money in the next session.

The Board of Regents put together a modest budget proposal for the six universities next year.

USD President Sheila Gestring says there may be some additional opportunities for long term goals.

Gestring says USD does have some upgrades in the budget request.

Gestring says the project adding to their animal testing unit is very timely.

USD got $5 million in state general funds last year to help pay for a new health science building.
