ABERDEEN, S.D. (WNAX) – Weather impacts on agriculture and farmer stress are two of the major topics that will be addressed at this week’s South Dakota Farmers Union Convention in Aberdeen. President Doug Sombke says they have a lot to talk about.
He says his group’s members want to see truthful and consistent labeling of all types of ag products to avoid confusion among consumers.
Sombke says they’ll also be talking about industrial hemp in South Dakota and the challenges facing that industry.
Sombke says they’ll also elect delegates to attend the National Farmers Union convention next year in Savannah, Georgia and hold officer elections. Sombke is unopposed and is running for re-election as is Vice President Wayne Soren.
