Local governments across South Dakota are hurrying to get medical marijuana ordinances on the books before it becomes legal on July first.

Vermillion City Manager John Prescott says they borrowed a draft ordinance to use as a framework.

Prescott says they want to limit the number and locations of any medical marijuana dispensaries.

Prescott says they have had some interest in a possible license.

The state Departments of Health and Revenue are in the process of writing rules for medical marijuana.
